ITALIAN VOCABULARY CARDS #1

PRIMARY ITALIAN VOCABULARY CARDS KS3 ITALIAN VOCABULARY CARDS BEGINNER ITALIAN VOCABULARY CARDS Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. 99 beginner Italian words & phrases with 99 matching English vocabulary cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment, ideal for beginner KS3 Italian learners, and a great revision resource for students entering into KS4 Italian. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their beginner Italian vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The game cards and accompanying Recall & Write activities have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling. It doesn’t matter if any of the words or phrases don’t feature in your medium or even longer-term learning plan: this is a great way of encouraging your students to engage with new language, and to build their vocabulary at the same time. The vocabulary groups are as follows: Saluti : I giorni della settimana : I mesi dell’anno : I numeri da 0 a 20 La mia famiglia : Le parole comuni : Italiano in classe : Domande e risposte Students can work independently of the teacher, challenging themselves and each other in their best Italian accent to find all the matching words & phrases cards in Italian and English. The card templates allow students to apply their Italian knowledge practically and creatively, as they put together mini-quiz cards for each other, preferably from memory. Creating new language is an essential element of successful language learning, so this is a key part of the overall activity, and it’s really popular with my students. The Reference, Recall & Write book has 18 pages. It includes an alphabetical Italian-English reference list of all 99 words & phrases. There are three recall challenges: Written Recall Challenge One students write the English word or phrase from an Italian prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Two with this challenge, students write the words or phrases in Italian from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Three the final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from Italian to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category. This challenges the memory more than when the vocabulary is in the order learners first learn it in, with the additional challenge of moving between the two languages. MOLTE GRAZIE E BUON APPRENDIMENTO!

GCSE GERMAN KS4 GERMAN KS3 GERMAN VERBS CARDS Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. 99 high-frequency German verbs with 99 matching English verbs cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment, ideal for advanced beginner German learners, as they prepare to move into and work confidently at intermediate German level. The games and activities are a really successful alternative to more traditional 'vocabulary drilling' exercises. Students can work independently of the teacher, challenging themselves and each other in their best German accent to find all the matching verbs cards in German and English. The card templates allow students to apply their German knowledge practically and creatively, as they put together mini-quiz cards for each other, preferably from memory. There are three differentiated recall challenges: Written Recall Challenge One students write the English verbs from a German prompt, with all the verbs in alphabetical order, German-English. Written Recall Challenge Two again, students write the verbs in English from a German prompt, but the German verbs are now in random, rather than alphabetical order. Language learners often learn or are familiar with new vocabulary in a particular order, so it increases the recall challenge by changing that order. Written Recall Challenge Three the final challenge requires students to write the corresponding German verb from an English prompt. The English verbs are also in random order. This challenge really helps with vocabulary recall, which is quite challenging when vocabulary does not appear in the context of a sentence. It's really useful for spelling in German too. KS3 GERMAN FRUITS & VEGETABLES CHALLENGE CARDS 108 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGE CARDS @ £2.00 EACH IN THE BUNDLE The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. The questions have a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words and more complex sentences in German. Sentence structure and word order may differ from students’ first and/or home language, so it’s important to provide them with opportunities to engage with language that moves beyond single-unit vocabulary as soon as possible. It also gives them chance to apply language in a practical, real-world context, which in turn helps embed both vocab and grammatical concepts into longer-term memory. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on the target vocab, but also to work on German language skills in general, such as cases, adjectival endings, grammatical structures such as um… zu + infinitive and so on. The questions are all in German, and range in complexity and challenge. I usually read through questions before my students work with the cards for the first time, to ensure that everyone understands any new or unknown language and structures. There are 35 fruits and 37 vegetables addressed in the challenge cards, and it’s unlikely that they are all in your teaching and learning plan. I always include additional vocabulary to add a little challenge, and to encourage students to think a little more creatively and independently. There are alphabetical German-English and English-German fruits and vegetables lists withmasculine and feminine fruits, definite and indefinite article, and singular and plural. This really helps students familiarize themselves with grammatical concepts without explicit instruction. There are several***translation questions*** , both from German to English and English to German, which is a great introduction to translation for beginner learners. I explain that there are several possible correct alternatives, as translation is not a word-for-word activity, which is definitely useful for them to know from the very beginning of their learning. The question card template enables students to apply theirknowledge of language and grammatical concepts creatively and practically too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other, and I encourage them to use the existing questions as a frame of reference as they create their own, and to include fruits and vegetables that are not already in the vocabulary lists. Each set comprises: = 36 question cards*, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper = answer key & recording sheet = alphabetical fruits & vegetables lists, German-English & English-German Have a browse in my store for more German resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be amended, copied, rewritten, shared or distributed, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. A lively whole-group multi-skill language learning game, ideal for Primary French and KS3 French students. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the clock faces, makes it perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to tell the time in French. I frequently use a timer when we play. Playing in teams, using either a single challenge, or with both challenges, is really popular - students find the competitive element really motivating and are genuinely keen to see which team can finish first, and whether they can beat their own time record. There are two games, each with a different challenge: Challenge 1: with all the the clock times in numerical order, which is how they probably first learn the times Challenge 2: with the all the clock times in random order, which really helps recall and embedding new language, as students often learn time phrases in numerical order. PRIMARY FRENCH TELLING THE TIME KS2 FRENCH TELLING THE TIME KS3 FRENCH TELLING THE TIME I HAVE, WHO HAS? every analogue clock time with matching clock faces - six games, six challenges, 3 sets @ £1.95 each in the bundle Files are non-editable files in a zipped format. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. I have, Who has? is a great language learning game. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the clock faces, makes it perfect for practicing, reinforcing & refreshing how to tell time in French. It’s a whole-group communicative game, with a multi-skill focus on speaking, listening, reading, vocabulary-building and developing accurate pronunciation. The game really does help to create a lively language learning environment, and is a great alternative to more traditional ‘drilling’ activities. This bundle features 3 separate games sets, each with a particular range of clock times - across the three sets, every single analog clock time is used. There are four cards per 8.5 x 11 page - I always make sure that font and text size is fairly large for beginner French and Primary French learners, as it’s essential that the text - and therefore language - is fully accessible. In the Primary French classroom, we do often have learners who are just beginning to learn how to tell time in their first language, so it’s really important to make learning French manageable in my view. There’s definitely some prep involved - printing, laminating and cutting out - but it’s definitely worth the extra time, as the cards are a lot more learner-friendly when they are sturdier, and they last for years too. Groups of students can play different games against a timer in a competition - who can complete their timeline first? It’s great fun, and really popular. There are two games in each set, with a different challenge: Challenge 1: with all the the clock times in numerical order, which is how they probably first learn the times Challenge 2: with the all the clock times in random order, which really helps recall and embedding new language Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. SPANISH AR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE #1

5 Resources
GCSE SPANISH KS4 SPANISH KS3 SPANISH SPANISH AR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom, in whole or in part, in any way. The license is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use 3 workbooks, 3 tenses @ £1.10 each in the bundle focusing on 25 high-frequency Spanish AR verbs. The tenses are: = present (presente) = perfect (perfecto compuesto) = preterite (pretérito) There are 150 quick conjugations in each workbook across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, so 450 conjugations in total in the bundle. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbooks are ideal for advanced KS3 Spanish into KS4 Spanish / GCSE Spanish students who are beginning to work regularly with more complex language and texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in Spanish. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice, reinforcing and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for individual activities during sub lessons - I move onto conjugation quite quickly in my language learning programs, so that students can apply language practically and creatively, which is essential for progressing in language learning, as well as consolidating language and grammatical concepts. I give my students regular opportunities to practice the conjugations during the whole schools year, which they find this really useful for mapping their own progress and developing their overall understanding of how Spanish conjugation ‘works’. When they are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well Language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the grammar of the language they are learning. With the Spanish perfect tense for example, students with English as a first language frequently use tener instead of haber as the auxiliary, as they tend to be more familiar with tener. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verb haber in the present tense to ensure that they can form the Spanish perfect tense accurately. When we look at the preterite tense in Spanish, students often confuse it with the imperfect tense when they are conjugating verbs, as well as when and how to use either tense. There are specific and important differences in usage between the tenses, and I do always discuss this with students about this when we’re using the workbooks. Each set is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Spanish-English and English-Spanish, useful for longer-term reference too Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Spanish across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Spanish, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in Spanish. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Spanish verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from a Spanish prompt. I use the Notes and Next Steps template to encourage my students to reflect on their progress, and think about what they can reasonably and realistically do to meet learning targets and move on - we revisit the conjugations, and the Notes and Next Steps, regularly - sometimes students haven’t quite embedded learning before it’s time to move on, so revisiting for 10-minute ‘chunks’ is really popular with them. Students not any new verbs they learn, which in time builds into a really comprehensive verb vocabulary bank. We also use the Notes and Next Steps to inform, guide and focus whole-group discussion on learning and progress in general, which is a really popular activity. The answer key has six pages and is in book format. Answer keys are essential for this kind of learning activity, as they do provide a really essential additional opportunity for students to engage with language, and my students prefer to work and learn independently, assessing their own progress, either individually, in pairs or in small groups. They’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing! Try this free Spanish quick conjugation sampler - you’ll be able to see if this kind of grammar activity would work well for your students: SPANISH CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-conjugation-practice-sampler-12477165 Have a browse in my store for more Spanish grammar activities, and a wide range of Spanish language teaching and learning materials, with Spanish resource boxes, special offer bundles and lots of freebies - I’ve included a couple here for you to try. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

The questions are useful for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in French in general, with grammatical concepts such as definite and indefinite articles, singular and plural, and gender agreement, and certainly in French dates, days, months and seasons in particular. The questions are entirely in French, with some translation questions both from French into English, and English into French. It’s important to help students understand as soon as possible that translation does not mean simply exchanging word for word, and that languages do work in different ways to express the same things. Generally, the questions all range in complexity and challenge, and some call upon prior knowledge too, helping students make links and build bridges in their learning. There may be some words students are not familiar with - these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too. Certainly, core language is repeated throughout in slightly different contexts to support and progress learning. These French Christmas Numbers 0-31 challenge cards are perfect for French Christmas lessons, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. I’ve found that lessons around the Christmas period are a great time for revisiting and practising language and structures we’ve looked at over the semester. The questions are entirely in***French***, and students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their developing knowledge of French in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in French in general, and certainly in French numbers and French Christmas vocabulary in particular. The questions range in complexity and challenge, not only in terms of calculation, but also in terms of the level of French - they are definitely aimed at advanced beginner French learners, rather than new or recent beginners. Most learners will be able to infer meaning from context / images, which have a real French Christmas theme, such as la bûche de Noël and Père Fouettard, with vocabulary and structures repeated throughout, giving learners a chance to familiarize themselves really well with them. Nonetheless, it can be useful to read through the questions with the whole class first to check everyone is able to access the language, and therefore the activity, successfully. Students really do benefit in terms of language learning if they have several opportunities to work with the cards, rather than simply working with them in a single lesson. The resource comprises the following: Set of 36 differentiated question cards answer key & answer recording sheet question cards template Have a browse in my store for more French Christmas resources, and a range of other French resources, with special offer bundles and freebies. I use word searches a lot in my languages classroom - they're ideal for encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, and for building vocabulary. The grids are differentiated to ensure increasing challenge. The word searches are really useful when introducing the concept of verb conjugation in French - we do lots of comparison with English, and discuss both similarities and differences - this helps students think about patterns and how languages work in general. There are 5 French-French grids, and 5 English-French grids - this gets students applying French a little differently. There's additional consolidation too, as I've put a verb list in each grid that students have to complete. I always give answer keys - for me, that's an essential part of the learning - they give students an extra opportunity to engage with language, and they really enjoy checking their own and each others' work. Ideal for Primary French Immersion and beginner French students of all ages and stages, providing them with a great opportunity to engage with the written word in French, at the same time developing essential beginner French vocabulary. They are easily differentiated too: the grids have an increasing level of challenge, to ensure that all students can feel confident about their learning - and lots of chances to keep challenging themselves.
